Day 125, Saturday, 1 August 2009

Katherine

Andrew is 21 today and as we looked at this collage of photos Emailed by my father we both felt a little homesick not being there to celebrate with him. Happy Birthday Andrew.

We spent today updating our diary for the last 2 weeks and started to update the website. I commented to Denise about how much time it takes when we leave it so long between updates. We agreed that the only way to make it easier and less time consuming was not to spend time talking with the people we meet along the way, however, this was one of the very things we set out to do when we started the journey. We just reread our About page which we wrote before we started -  “…. this trip we want to travel more slowly and take the opportunity to meet people and cycling gives us the opportunity to do this. When we travel in a car everything rushes past and we miss a lot of things, that when discovered on a bicycle, lead us along a very different path to that originally planned.”

This evening we met with Peter and Barbara for a goodbye dinner as they head for Darwin tomorrow and we go the day after.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.
