Rosedale, Bororen

I awoke with a headache this morning that stayed with me most of the day. It seemed to be my turn for a sick day. So I was not that inspired to get going this morning.

We left the campsite at 10.00am and went to the General Store to look for something to make sandwiches for lunch. We have been slowly getting fed up with sandwiches for lunch and given the limited choice of ingredients in the store we decided to make do with what we had – oranges, apples, mandarins, fruit cake and fruit and nut bars. We left the store with a chocolate bar each and 1 litre of chocolate milk between the two of us.

Today was perhaps the hottest and driest we have had in Queensland with both of us remarking how dry our mouths were even though we were drinking as we rode. The heat did nothing for my headache and nor did the steep hill that we encountered after the Lowmead turnoff. I reached the top of this hill to find Denise taking a photo of me! :-(

At the turn off to Miriam Vale we discovered the Fingerboard Roadhouse, (not as big as it sounds) and were both pleased to discover a very good choice of meals. We both sat down to Quiche and Salad with what is appearing to be the obligatory chocolate milk. It was nice to have something different to our standard cold meat salad roll.

The road into Miriam Vale was more level than what we had been along this morning. As I was still not feeling the best we decided not to camp but with no accommodation available in Miriam Vale we had to ride a further 10km along the Bruce Highway to the Koorawatha Homestead Motel before we could call it a day.

After completing the ride from Bundaberg to Miriam Vale we are both in awe of Peter and John from Canberra who did this ride last year and completed the 127km to Miriam Vale in a single day.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.
