Southport, Southbank, Brisbane, Aspley

Capital city number one ticked off, seven to go.

Today was a long day with the plan to reach the Big 4 Caravan Park in Aspley. Peter Maquire had warned us that “Brisbane is by no means a cycle friendly city” and having now traversed it we would agree. Even advice we saught from Bicycle Queensland described it as “awkward”. For people like ourselves, who are not familiar with the roads of Brisbane, it would be very difficult to navigate through the city without our trusty but naggy GPS.

Our aim was to reach Aspley before 4.00pm so as to avoid peak hour traffic. We may have done this, but if that is the case then we would hate to see peak hour because we ecountered an awful lot of traffic. In particular to make things more difficult there was not much of a shoulder for the last 20 km on the road.

We thought Sydney was bad but not anymore.

Zoom into the map and use the 'Satellite' layer to see our new location.
